Colorado has a large dog community. Every year the number and type of dog sports available increases. Conformation, obedience, tracking, and agility have been popular for decades. In recent years flyball, disc dogs, and dock dogs have gained in popularity.

Colorado does have some breed specific legislation (primarily pitbull) in the following cities: Denver, Aurora, Castle Rock, Centennial, Fort Lupton, Lonetree, and Louisville.
